Minnesota Science and Math Academic Standards Crosswalk to Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Course Outcomes The following report will summarize how the Minnesota Science and Math Academic Standards link to Project Lead the Way High School Curriculum. There are eight Project Lead the Way courses, each with several units of study. A unit of study addresses specific learning outcomes or performance objectives within the unit lessons. The Worldwide Instructional Design System (WIDS) has used their instructional design software to populate all of the PLTW course outcomes or performance objectives into a database and the Science and Math Academic Standards (http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/Academic_Excellence/Academic_Standards/Mathematics/index.html) into a database, linking the two together as appropriate. Each PLTW performance objective outlines specific skills, attitudes and knowledge addressed within a lesson. These skills are highly defined and detailed and can be addressed at a fairly accurate level by specific academic standards. The Minnesota Math and Science Academic Standards are also defined by category, standard and even more specifically, a standard indicator. WIDS has taken the liberty to correlate the standard and the PLTW outcome at the lowest level, showing a more comprehension picture of how a course is linked to external standards. Attached are matrices, one for each of the PLTW courses. The report has been generated to show where the PLTW performance objectives are addressed by state science and math standards. The report does not show all standards, but only those that link within the course. The report below attempts to briefly summarize each matrix.
